Here at Counter Journal we’re always on the lookout for innovative businesses who are redefining the status quo of their industry. Whether it be to benefit the environment, streamline their supply chain or provide greater value to the end user, we think it’s important that brands are able to adapt to the changing consumer and economic landscape.
Introducing the new collection from Aotearoa’s own Harris Tapper, Self Portrait is available for preorder from today until July 14th via their website. This is new territory for cofounders Sarah and Lauren, using the pre-purchase model as a tool to inform smarter forecasting and buying for their online store, in turn removing the risks of overproduction and surplus.
A former buyer, co-founder Sarah Harris Gould says, “...Offering a pre-order of the next collection to the public before it’s made gives us greater visibility on what our Harris Tapper online customers want. With the data we are able get a read on products that are performing well before investing in an order for our online store upfront. This will hopefully eliminate the guesswork involved in making a collection, meaning we are also able to produce more responsibly and deepen the relationship with our Harris Tapper community."
This is all good news for the consumer too, democratising the relationship between clothing production and purchasing. It means that shopping can become a more conscious act, enabling the consumer to improve their buying behaviour by making more careful, committed decisions, and actively participating in the production of clothing.
Check out the collection now at harristapper.com featuring their trademark luxury materials and muted palette. Designed during lockdown, the collection explores themes of isolation, surveillance and self-reflection. Preorders are available with a 50% deposit and remainder payable just prior to delivery in Spring.
Self Portrait was shot and modelled by Veronica Crockford-Pound alongside partner Joseph Giffen. Hair by M11, makeup by Esta Rose.
