Old School Aotearoa: Dairies

Aotearoa may be a relatively young country, but nestled amongst our beautiful landscapes can be found a myriad of buildings and structures from days past.

The humble New Zealand dairy conjures up emotions of nostalgia for many. Kiwis who frequented these neighbourhood institutions as children, buying dollar mixtures and mince pies, will fondly remember the excitement of walking to the local store to spend their chore money—pockets jingling with loose change.

Although many dairies these days have been bought and rebranded by shiny, polished chain stores such as Night ‘n Day, if you search the towns and backroads of regional NZ you are sure to come across some remnants of old school Aotearoa.
